When you’re faced with ongoing challenges, it’s hard to maintain your motivation to get to the gym and work out. However, there’s a way that this can be done! Here are just a few tips on maintaining motivation through challenging times:
Create Realistic, Attainable, Measurable Goals
Setting realistic, attainable, and measurable goals will influence your chances of achieving them and help you maintain motivation.
- Realistic: You want to set the bar high enough to be a challenge, but not so high that it’s impossible.
- Attainable: Create goals that can be “checked off.” By envisioning your success, you’ll feel more motivated to put in the work to achieve them.
- Measurable: Rather than setting a goal to “get fit,” set a goal to “complete my first OCR” by a specific date. This type of goal can be easily tracked, and you’ll be able to measure and gauge your progress as you train.
Find Other People Who Have Achieved Similar Goals
Without being envious of others’ success, you can take advice and learn from those who have blazed the path before you. Whether that’s following a motivational Instagram account or asking a friend for advice on how they got to where they are, you can learn a lot from other people’s stories and get the drive to find the same success they’ve had in the past.
Prioritize What’s Most Important
Though it’s certainly possible to have goals that span many different areas of your life, a human being only has so much time and willpower. Spreading yourself too thin can result in not completing any goals, so really think about which ones are most important to you and focus on them the most.
